15 past editions and the 16th is just around the corner, we are entering the 30th year of the Mondial, which is now a heritage event. A groundwork that starts more than a year in advance. Months and months to work so that the show is ready for the summer, a lot of ideas, exchanges, meetings, small anxieties and great joys … The Mondial is much more than an event, it is a story. Did you know that …<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Grand Est Mondial Air Ballons\u00ae mobilizes more than 450 people<\/strong>, volunteers and subcontractors, from 11 nations who participate in orchestrating this huge organization, before, during and after the event. <\/span><\/li>\n
  2. It takes to the installation team 1 month to build the event\u2019s site<\/strong>, which covers more than 200 hectares. And 2 weeks<\/strong> to remove everything!<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. The runway on which the balloons pilots set up to try, every two years, to break the takeoff record is 3 km long<\/strong>. <\/span><\/li>\n
  4. The Mondial hosts more than 1300 pilots<\/strong> (including 10% female pilots) and 1 000 balloons<\/strong>, from 70 invited nations<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. Since 2011, the largest propane station in the world<\/strong> is located on Chambley aerodrome. It has 150 gas filling points and allows pilots during and off the event to fill their cylinders very quickly with gas, necessary to fly.<\/span><\/li>\n
  6. In 2017, during 10 days, nearly 5 000 balloons flights<\/strong> were made, meaning 11 flights out of 19. The control tower also recorded 1,552 movements of other aircrafts, not including the developments of paragliders.<\/span><\/li>\n
  7. During 10 days, 400 000 spectators<\/strong> go to the site. An attractiveness that is explained by the beauty and exceptional nature of the show that is offered in the open sky.<\/span><\/li>\n
  8. Among the visitors, there are Belgian, Luxembourger, Germans tourists<\/strong> but also Americans<\/strong> ones<\/strong> with of course the veterans of Chambley. On the French side, of the 101 French departments, 66 are represented. <\/span><\/li>\n
  9. In 2017, more than 3 000 people<\/strong> had the chance to experience a first flight<\/strong> in hot air balloon, airplane, glider, Ulm or helicopter.<\/span><\/li>\n
  10. Guinness World Records certified since 2013<\/strong>, the Mondial has since improved its own takeoff record twice. In 2017, 456 hot air balloons took off simultaneously in less than one hour. A new world record, which we hope to beat again in 2019! <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
