Apr\u00e8s le prototype qui a permis \u00e0 Bertrand Piccard et Andr\u00e9 Borschberg de tester les capacit\u00e9s d\u2019un tel engin,  le nouvel avion avec ses quatre moteurs \u00e9lectriques aliment\u00e9s par 17 200 cellules solaires qui a une envergure de 72 m\u00e8tres pour un poids de 2,3 tonnes. C\u2019est le pilote d\u2019essai Markus Scherdel qui a effectu\u00e9 le premier vol (comme il l\u2019avait r\u00e9alis\u00e9 en 2009) de 2h15 (soit une demi-heure de plus que pr\u00e9vu). D\u00e9sormais l\u2019avion doit suivre un programme de vols d\u2019essais avant de s\u2019\u00e9lancer en 2015 pour le tour du monde.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><em><strong>The aircraft powered by solar energy succeeded on June 2nd its first test flight from Payerne (Switzerland). After the prototype which enabled Bertrand Piccard and Andr\u00e9 Borschberg to test their capabilities of such a device, the new aircraft with four electric motors powered by 17,200 solar cells which has a wingspan of 72 metres and a weight of 2.3 tonnes. Markus Scherdel, the test pilot, made the first flight (as he did in 2009) of 2 hours and 15 minutes (a half-hour longer than planned).
