Traditionnellement ce long weekend de l\u2019Ascension est r\u00e9serv\u00e9 aux \u201cJourn\u00e9es Portes Ouvertes\u201d de l\u2019a\u00e9rodrome de #Chambley et au rassemblement des membres de l\u2019association organisatrice du #GEMAB (#Grand Est Mondial Air Ballons). Op\u00e9rations annul\u00e9es depuis deux mois en raison du #COVID19.
\nEn dehors de la f\u00eate religieuse, ces quatre jours de l\u2019#Ascension sont parfaits pour mettre en valeur nos disciplines … lorsque la m\u00e9t\u00e9o est de la partie. Alors faute de manifestation, j\u2019ai envie aujourd\u2019hui de vous parler d\u2019\u00e9v\u00e9nements qui ont marqu\u00e9 le monde de l\u2019a\u00e9rostation depuis les ann\u00e9es 1980 : les travers\u00e9es de l\u2019Atlantique.<\/h6>\n
Cette ann\u00e9e 2020, nous f\u00eatons les 20 ans de la travers\u00e9e entre le Canada et la France par deux Lorrains : Laurent Lajoye et Christophe Houver. Et l\u2019Atlantique c\u2019est mythique !<\/h6>\n
S\u2019agit il d\u2019entrer dans l\u2019histoire en l\u2019an 2000 ? Quoiqu\u2019il en soit ce vol pr\u00e9par\u00e9 de longue date s\u2019inscrit dans le cadre des f\u00eates associ\u00e9es \u00e0 cette date. Il s\u2019agit, \u00e0 bord d\u2019une rozi\u00e8re (combinaison d\u2019une montgolfi\u00e8re et d\u2019un ballon \u00e0 gaz h\u00e9lium), d\u2019\u00eatre les premiers fran\u00e7ais \u00e0 traverser l\u2019Atlantique.\"\"<\/strong> Les deux Lorrains Laurent Lajoye et Christophe Houver sont persuad\u00e9s qu\u2019ils peuvent r\u00e9ussir l\u2019exploit et inscrire leurs noms dans le grand livre de l\u2019a\u00e9ronautique.
\nPartis de Saint John (Nouveau Brunswick), ils r\u00e9ussissent \u00e0 se poser \u00e0 Saon (Calvados), le 4 septembre 2000 \u00e0 06 h 36 (GMT) apr\u00e8s 146 h 49 min 24 sec, franchissant 4.792,57 km et pulv\u00e9risant un troisi\u00e8me record en atteignant 5.218 m\u00e8tres d\u2019altitude.
\nTrois beaux records de France<\/strong> et une splendide promotion pour le Conseil R\u00e9gional de Lorraine, partenaire de l\u2019op\u00e9ration.
\nL\u2019enveloppe est celle utilis\u00e9e par Richard Branson dans sa tentative de record du tour du monde. La nacelle, qui ne dispose ni de chauffage ni d\u2019air pressuris\u00e9, a \u00e9t\u00e9 con\u00e7ue avec des \u00e9tudiants de l\u2019\u00e9cole d\u2019ing\u00e9nieurs de Metz (ENIM). L\u2019\u00e9quipage au sol de plusieurs dizaines de personnes sont les ami(e)s des pilotes qui se d\u00e9vouent corps et \u00e2me pour le projet.
\nUne aventure humaine exceptionnelle ! Pr\u00e9vu pour 3 jours, le vol a dur\u00e9 deux jours de plus en raison de vents moins rapides qu’esp\u00e9r\u00e9s.<\/h6>\n
De Lindbergh \u00e0 Piccard<\/strong>
\nLa travers\u00e9e de l\u2019Atlantique, depuis Charles Lindbergh qui a r\u00e9ussi en 33 h 30 minutes \u00e0 rallier \u00e0 bord de l\u2019avion Spirit of Saint Louis, New York \u00e0 Paris, les 20 et 21 mai 1927, cette aventure est devenue mythique.
\nEn 1978, les Am\u00e9ricains Ben Abruzzo, Maxie Anderson et Larry Newman r\u00e9ussissent l\u2019exploit en cinq jours, \u00e0 bord d\u2019un ballon \u00e0 gaz h\u00e9lium le \u201cDouble Eagle 2\u201d, d\u00e9collant de l\u2019Etat du Maine (USA) et se posant \u00e0 Miserey, apr\u00e8s 137 h 05 min 50 sec de vol en couvrant 5.022 kms. Douze tentatives avaient d\u00e9j\u00e0 eu lieu faisant 5 victimes.
\nIl faut attendre 1992 pour qu\u2019une course de rozi\u00e8res (du nom de l\u2019inventeur Pil\u00e2tre de Rozier en 1785) soit organis\u00e9e : le Chrysler Challenge, gagn\u00e9 par l\u2019\u00e9quipage (Wim Verstraeten & Bertrand Piccard) qui se pose apr\u00e8s 5 jours et 5.000 km en Espagne.
\nA deux reprises Bertrand Piccard va se retrouver sur ce trajet \u00e0 bord du Breitling III lors du tour du monde en ballon en mars 1999 et \u00e0 bord de l\u2019avion solaire Solar Impulse en 71h08 min entre JFK New York et S\u00e9ville, le 23 juin 2016.<\/h6>\n
De belles histoires qu\u2019il convenait de rappeler en cette f\u00eate de l\u2019Ascension.<\/h6>\n

\ud83c\uddec\ud83c\udde7\u00a0\u00a0– Transatlantic crossing on a balloon<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/h6>\n
Traditionally, this long Ascension weekend is reserved for \u201cOpen Days\u201d at #Chambley aerodrome and for the gathering of members of the #GEMAB (#Grand Est Mondial Air Ballons) organizing association. Operations canceled for two months due to #COVID19.
\nApart from the religious holiday, these four days of #Ascension are perfect for showcasing our disciplines … when the weather is there.
\nSo for lack of demonstration, I want today to tell you about events that have marked the world of ballooning since the 1980s: the Atlantic crossings.<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/h6>\n
This year 2020, we are indeed celebrating the 20th anniversary of the crossing between Canada and France by two Lorraine locals: Laurent Lajoye and Christophe Houver. And the Atlantic is legendary!
\n<\/span><\/span><\/em>Was it about making history in the year 2000? In any case, this long-prepared flight is part of the celebrations associated with this date. The aim is to be the first French crew to cross the Atlantic aboard a rozi\u00e8re (a combination of a hot-air balloon and a helium gas balloon).<\/span><\/em><\/h6>\n
Three French records<\/strong>
\nThe two Lorrainers, Laurent Lajoye and Christophe Houver, are convinced that they can succeed in the feat and enter their names in the aeronautical ledger. On take-off from Saint John (New Brunswick), they managed to land in Saon (Calvados), on September 4, 2000 at 6:36 am (GMT) after 146 h 49 min 24 sec, crossing 2,978 miles and breaking a third record by reaching 5,218 meters above sea level.
\nThree beautiful French records and a splendid promotion for the Regional Council of Lorraine, proud partner of the operation.
\nScheduled for 3 days, the flight lasted two more days due to slower winds than expected.
\nThe envelope is the one used by Richard Branson in his attempt to go around the world. The nacelle, which has neither heating nor pressurized air, was designed with students from the Engineering School of Metz. The ground crew of several dozen people are the friends of the pilots who dedicate themselves body and soul to the project. An exceptional human adventure!<\/span><\/em><\/h6>\n
From Lindbergh to Piccard<\/strong>
\nCrossing the Atlantic is a legendary adventure ever since Charles Lindbergh rallied New York to Paris aboard the plane Spirit of Saint Louis in 33 h 30 minutes, on May 20 and 21, 1927.
\nIn 1978, the Americans Ben Abruzzo, Maxie Anderson and Larry Newman succeeded in five days, aboard a helium gas balloon the \u201cDouble Eagle 2\u201d, taking off from the State of Maine (USA) and landing at Miserey (France), after 137 h 05 min 50 sec of flight covering 5,022 kms. Twelve attempts had already taken place, causing 5 victims.
\nIt was not until 1992 that a race of rozi\u00e8res (named after the inventor Pil\u00e2tre de Rozier in 1785) was organized: the Chrysler Challenge, won by the crew Wim Verstraeten & Bertrand Piccard which arose after 5 days and 5,000 km in Spain.
\nTwice Bertrand Piccard will find himself on this journey aboard the Breitling III during the round the world balloon flight in March 1999 and aboard the solar plane Solar Impulse in 71h08 min between JFK New York and Seville, June 23, 2016 .<\/span><\/em><\/h6>\n
