The first day’s troubles

23 Jul 2021

At each edition, it’s always the same stress. The teams are formed, the delays generate some bursts of voices. The pilots hurry to get their documents and packs before going to their accommodation. The partners take over their boxes, while the media are looking for the opening story, hoping that the flight will take place to illustrate a great start. The public is already crowding the car parks and the aisles. The gendarmerie and the security guards are watching while the first aid team is dealing with the first small injuries. With experience, it is well known that everything will only be in order on Monday, once the inauguration and the first flights are over.

Editorial – Philippe Buron Pilâtre :

We were right to believe and hope. The 17th edition of the #GEMAB will probably not be the one we hoped for, but it is happening and we should be happy about it. There have been many obstacles and pitfalls, but since October 2019 we have believed in it. And the drivers, partners, media, members of the organisation and the public have been by our side. So, let’s make way for the show and the aerostatic planet that has reached the Chambley aerodrome. All that remains is to have the weather on our side. Welcome to all of you.
