The GEMAB has known only four flight directors. In 1989 it was Pierre Barré replacing Thierry Villey-Desmeserets at short notice. Then in 1991, Doctor Thierry Villey, replaced only once by Jacques Mangenot. The faithful Thierry has served until 2019. Having become president of the jury, he was replaced by Maurice Otin, who was one of my fellow students in 1986 for the instructor training course. A desert pilot, he spent his entire career in Marrakech where he developed his company of passenger transport by hot air balloons. For the GEMAB there is the organizer on one side and on the other side the flight director who must ensure safety, order the flights and make sure that the regulations are applied.
