Un jeune messin, Jean-François Pilâtre de Rozier (1754-1785), physicien de son état, devient en quelques mois un passionné de la « chose de l’air » et réussit à piloter ce qui va devenir une montgolfière. La tradition sera maintenue à Chambley (si la météo le permet) avec un vol commémoratif.

November 21st is an important aerostatic date to remember : the first human flight which made possible the great aeronautical history. A young resident of Metz, Jean-François Pilâtre de Rozier (1754-1785), physicist, becomes in a few months, passionate of the “air thing”. He succeeds in controlling what will become a hot air balloon. The tradition will be maintained in Chambley (if the weather allows it) with a commemorative flight.
