Unfortunately, the potential buyer, the ABC Group, has announced in the press that he no longer intends to buy GEMAB, but still plans to organize an event very much inspired by the GEMAB… but with another name!
However, for several months I worked with him and his team to help him understand the organization of an event in which balloonists from all over the world are the heroes.
For 30 years, this event has become one of the highlights of the ballooning calendar. A key player in the development of the Grand Est region and Lorraine, the event generated numerous economic spin-offs.
Over the past few days, messages of support have been pouring in from all over the world. Pilots, crew members, former employees, volunteers, partners – they’re all astonished by this unexpected turn of events.
I still have hope of finding a buyer capable of continuing the history of this institution, which can attract hundreds of thousands of spectators and media from all over the world.
I still have faith in the future and I intend to defend this heritage.
