July 29th – What a day!

30 Jul 2021

Well one flight in the morning, one flight in the evening and the Night Glow (a night swell). A dream day on the #GEMAB21. God knows we were hoping for this flight. The public moved en masse and in true communion and admiration. The heat has slowly returned allowing us to believe a little in summer. The Commander of the BGTA (Air Police Force) was even able to take off with her deputy, under the slightly envious glance of the team remaining on the ground. At noon, we welcomed William Simonin, President of the company Vivoka. A beautiful startup from Lorraine which revolutionizes the world of voice control. We had to deplore two or three fractures and sprains due to some rough landings. PBP intervened on the podium before the evening briefing to remind some mandatory rules on an air show. The French administration continued to deploy its ballet of civil servants to check that we follow the rules. The night finally arrived, concluding more than 17 hours non stop. Congratulations to the teams who are doing an admirable job.

Editorial – Philippe Buron Pilâtre :

It is extremely rare that I go on the podium during the #GEMAB. Usually to welcome the pilots at the start to tell them how happy we are to welcome them and at the end to say goodbye and thank them for their presence. This Thursday at 6.30 pm I intervened to remind the safety rules which seem to have been forgotten. Wearing of the badge for the pilots and of the bracelet for the crewmembers, firmly screwed to the wrist. And above all the OBLIGATION to be present at the briefing with the deposit in the ballot box of the attendance ticket. Without this, the crews are in violation. We have fought hard to make this edition a success, let’s not spoil it. It is a real appeal that I launch to you pilots and crews. We need to be able to count on you. Thank you for listening to me during this briefing and I understood from your applause that we were on the same side: the one of safety.
