The GEMAB an economic asset
The GEMAB is not only hundreds of hot air balloons that take off morning and evening during ten days with crews from all over the world. The Grand Est Mondial Air Ballons since 1989 is an important economic actor. Apart from the media promotion throughout the world, both with the hundreds of media present and the development of social networks that flood the web, the direct economic benefits are important. In addition to the hotels, campsites, Airbnb, lodgings, restaurants, fuel, souvenirs, tourist visits of some 3,000 pilots and crew members, let’s consider the incoming flows of nearly 500,000 visitors (in 2019) who come from all over the Grand Est, from France and abroad. Excursionists and tourists also contribute to the local economy. In all, nearly 30 million euros of direct, indirect and induced benefits are generated in ten days.
