SixiĂšme Français Ă ĂȘtre allĂ© dans lâEspace entre le 20 juin et le 7 juillet 1996 lors du vol STS-65 de Columbia. Câest le premier scientifique français Ă avoir sĂ©journĂ© dans lâespace. Il Ă©tait en effet ingĂ©nieur chercheur au CNES. AprĂšs sa carriĂšre dâastronaute, il s’est engagĂ© dans la recherche et lâĂ©ducation. Il a notamment travaillĂ© sur des projets dâimplantation dâune base sur Mars et sur la Lune.
Câest le premier astronaute français Ă mourir sur la dizaine qui a eu la chance de gagner lâEspace. Pour le CNES et lâESA, câest une grande perte.

The information did not make a lot of noise in these hectic times. However the 6th Frenchman to have gone into Space, Jean-Jacques FAVIER (1949-2023) died at the age of 74. He was the sixth Frenchman to have been in space between June 20 and July 7, 1996 during the Columbia flight STS-65. He is the first French scientist to have been in space. He was indeed a research engineer at CNES. After his career as an astronaut, he became involved in research and education. He has worked on projects to establish a base on Mars and on the Moon.
He is the first French astronaut to die on the ten who had the chance to win the Space. For the CNES and the ESA, it is a great loss.
