Life returns with school children

For more than a year, school trips could not take place because of the pandemic. We had the joy in the Pilâtre de Rozier AeroMuseum to receive the first class of 2021 from a school in Pont à Mousson. About forty boys and girls, aged from 8 to 10 years old, all masked but with eyes full of wonder when they entered this cabinet of curiosities some of which date back 230 years. Like their predecessors, they were welcomed into the Michael Collins auditorium to watch a film about hot-air balloons, before entering the “belly” of a real one. Then divided into three groups, they participated in workshops on history, physics and paper balloon making. At 3:30 p.m. they were back on the school bus, triumphantly holding their balloons in their hands and looking very happy. A great breath of fresh air for them, their teachers and the Pilâtre de Rozier team transformed into air educators.
