Mike Collins area to be discovered
With the support of the American veterans of Chambley Air Base, a new Mike Collins area has been set up in the AeroMuseum. A replica of his pilot’s helmet can now be seen, as well as his outfit and various accessories. The year of his death, Pilâtre de Rozier Organisation wanted to create this space to remind us that the Chambley base between 1954 and 1967 welcomed thousands of GI’s in the middle of the Cold War and that a hero like General Collins commanded a squadron and got married before joining the astronaut corps and leaving on the Gemini 10 Mission, then Apollo XI.
