Winter weather

In general, winter is reserved for the theoretical training of future balloon pilots because the weather is more complicated. On the Chambley airfield, we had the joy to realize a flight on January 1st. And against all expectations, Saturday January 15th allowed a new flight. As much as the first day of the year was sunny and windy with nearly 10 knots of wind (18 km/h), the next one took place with a little fog allowing nevertheless a flight of one hour and forty five minutes, without much wind. Two different experiences for the students who were able to practice level flight, landings and sometimes “drown” in the fog. The advantage of winter, unlike spring and summer, is that it is possible to fly during the day. Seven students are currently in training at the DTO International School of Aerostation Pilâtre de Rozier.
