The maintenance period has arrived
In winter the balloons fly little. They are put away for many, waiting for the rays of spring sunshine. March announces the period of the annual maintenance of aerostats. Indeed, like planes, helicopters, airships, they must pass through the hands of approved maintenance organizations which certify with the OSAC (authority delegated by the DGAC in France) that the machine can fly. The control is carried out on the envelope (porosity and tear tests), on the burner, the propane tanks, the cables and of course the nacelle. The “G” balloon hangar on the Chambley aerodrome regularly allows the Atelier de la Montgolfière (located in Reims) to carry out this control.
