En 1909, la célèbre aviatrice française Marie Marvingt réussissait un exploit extraordinaire : rallier l’Angleterre depuis Nancy, à bord d’un ballon à gaz, dans des conditions rocambolesques. Trois pilotes lorrains vont s’attaquer à ce record : Benoît Pelard (initiateur du projet), Laurent Lajoye (auteur de la traversée de l’Altantique à bord d’une rozière en 2000) et Sébastien Rolland (qui a remporté en septembre 2009 la célèbre Coupe Gordon Bennett). Décollage prévu après le 15 février 2010 à bord d’un ballon à gaz construit en Lorraine et portant les couleurs du Grand Nancy.

Nancy – England: 100 years after Marie Marvingt. In 1909, a French woman aviator Marie Marvingt made an extraordinary exploit: land in England from Nancy on board a gas balloon, under cataclysmic conditions. Three pilots from Lorraine will commemorate this record: Benoit Pelard (event’s initiator), Laurent Lajoye (who made a transatlantic exploit on board a “rozière” in 2000) and Sebastien Roland (who won in September 2009 the Gordon Bennett Cup). The take-off is planned after February 15th, 2010 on board a gas balloon built in Lorraine with the “Grand Nancy “colors.
