A soviet cosmonaut at GEMAB99

In 1999, the year famous for the total eclipse of the sun, we had the privilege to host Gueorgui Gretchko (1931-2017), the only soviet civilian cosmonaut (not military). This hero of the Soviet Union made 3 space flights between 1975 and 1985. We were very proud to welcome this hero, especially since we had planned with a club of radio amateurs to organize a communication between him and the MIR station with the french spaceman Jean Pierre Haigneré on board. The operation was successful between the Chambley airfield and the MIR station performing its last official mission before the arrival of the ISS. A project, which became a success, which will cost nearly 150 billion dollars.
