BallonVille Organisation: those behind the scenes
Since 1983 hundreds of volunteers from 11 countries have been involved in the organisation of the ten-day GEMAB. The association “Les Portes du Ciel” which brings them together has nearly 800 members, aged between 75 and 16. Each year, nearly 200 of them sign up to fill the hundred or so positions required for the smooth running of the event. The first-aid workers, the security, the gendarmerie, the sentry force, the duty technicians of the subcontractors, another 250 people, also joined in. They can be found in all positions (reception, pilot, guest, on the runway, information). It’s 240 hours of pure madness at the heart of an international event.
